Why do you have a lawn gnome?

After watching the movie Amélie I really wanted my own lawn gnome and take pictures of him where ever I traveled.

 

Why did you name him "Larry"?

When I told my dad I wanted a lawn gnome, he came up with the name "Larry". So he was "Larry the Gnome" even before I had got him.

 

Where did you get Larry?

My dad searched long and hard to get me a gnome and found that most places don't have lawn gnomes. We went to O'tooles, a garden shop nearby, and finally found Larry. O'tooles has since stop carrying lawn gnomes, however you can buy gnomes online, including Larry-look-alikes at The Gnome Home.

 

Where does he live?

Larry lives on my desk at home in Lakewood, Colorado during the summer and on breaks. During the school year he lives in Boulder near a window so he can people watch during the day. (When he isn't traveling that is).

 

Does Larry have any family?

Yes. Larry has two cousins Greta and Hans who travel with the Renaissance Festivals all over the world. He also has two uncles Chuck and Bob, who live nearby in the mountains and whom he visits often. He also has a crazy distance cousin Adrian but he is the black sheep of the family because...well...he's ceramic. So we don't talk about him much.

 

Do you celebrate Larry's birthday?

Yes. Larry's birthday is February 14, 2002. He had a wonderful party with friends for his 1st Birthday, hopefully pictures will be up soon.

 

Do people think you are strange when you take Larry's picture?

Yes, but people think I am strange all the time. It doesn't bother me that they give me funny looks when I am carrying around gnome. Boulder is a great place for Larry and I because he gets lots of attention. Often when I go shopping and take Larry, shop owners ask about him or even talk to Larry. Also a lot of people on the street comment about what a cute gnome I have or ask where I got him.
